You have wearied the Lord with your words. "How have we wearied him?" you ask. By saying --- "Where is the God of justice?" ㅡ Malachi 2:17

너희가 말로 여호와를 괴롭게 하고도 이르기를 우리가 어떻게 여호와를 괴롭혀 드렸나이까 하는도다 --- 또 말하기를 정의의 하나님이 어디 계시냐 함이니라 (말라기 2:17) 

I often have to quote these words to myself. It is easy to blame God when things seem unfair. A few years ago I had the priviege of visiting Haiti. I learned that my own hardships and complaints of injustice are often minor compared with those suffered by people in other lands. Many of our frustrations and inconveniences are merely "first-world problems." That helps me keep things in perspective.

나는 종종 이 단어들을 나 자신에게 인용해야만 합니다. 상황이 불공평해 보일 때, 하나님을 비난하기는 쉽습니다. 몇 년 전 나는 아이티를 방문할 특권을 가졌습니다. 나는 내 자신의 고난과 불의에 대한 불평이 다른 나라 사람들이 겪은 고통에 비하면 사소하다는 것을 배웠습니다. 우리의 많은 좌절감과 불편함은 단지 "제 1 세계의 문제"에 불과합니다. 그것이 사물을 바라보는 시각을 유지하도록 나를 도와줍니다.

Many of the people in Malachi's day were fairly well off. Life was not always fair, but others had it far worse. Yet they chose to focus on the few people who had it even better, and they complained that God was unfair. God eventually answered their complaints by saying they had most of it backwards. But for the moment it was sufficient for God simply to say he was weary of their complaining.

말라기 시대의 많은 사람들은 상당히 잘 지낸 편이었습니다. 인생은 항상 공평하지는 않지만, 다른 사람들은 훨씬 더 열악한 상황에 놓여 있었습니다. 그러나 그들은 자신들보다 더 나은 소수의 사람들을 주목하며 하나님은 불공평하다고 불평했습니다. 하나님께서는 결국 그들이 대부분을 잘못 알고 있다고 말씀하심으로 그들의 불평에 응답하셨습니다. 그러나 그 순간, 하나님께서 그들의 불평에 신물이 난다고 말씀하셔도 충분했습니다.

God has given us life itself. He sent his Son to die for our sins. The very food we eat and the clothes we wear are provided by God. I've met so many people from poorer countries than mine who seem to understand that fact a lot better than we do. They are less likely to complain about what they don't have and much more ready to thank God for what they do have.

하나님은 우리에게 생명 그 자체를 주셨습니다. 하나님은 우리 죄를 위해 죽게 하시려고 그의 아들을 보내 주셨습니다. 우리가 먹는 바로 그 음식과 우리가 입는 옷들이 하나님께서 공급하신 것입니다. 나는 우리보다 더 빈곤한 국가에서 많은 사람들을 만났습니다. 그들은 이 사실을 우리보다 훨씬 잘 이해하고 있는 것 같습니다. 그들은 자신이 갖고 있지 않은 것에 대해 덜 불평하는 것 같으며, 그들이 가진 것에 대해 하나님께 감사할 준비가 더욱 잘 되어 있는 듯 합니다.  

I'm thankful for their example.

나는 그들의 모범에 감사합니다.

PRYER (기도)

Dear father, thank you for all your provisions. Please give us our daily bread, and forgive us when we complain that we haven't received more. In Jesus' name. Amen.   

존귀하신 아버지, 주의 모든 공급하심에 감사드립니다. 우리에게 일용할 양식을 주옵시고, 우리가 받지 못했다고 불평할 때 우리를 용서해 주옵소서. 에수님 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
