See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. ㅡ James 5:7

보라 농부가 땅에서 나는 귀한 열매를 바라고 길이 참아 이른 비와 늦은 비를 기다리나니. (약 5:7) 

"Patience is a virtue," an old proverb says. Certainly this is true when growing crops. Apples don't blossom one day and bear fruit the next. Seeds don't sprout and immediately offer ripe grain. People who tend the soil must wait patiently for their harvest, enduring the reality that much about growth is out of their control.

옛 말에 "인내는 덕"이라는 말이 있습니다. 작물 재배에 있어서 이것은 참으로 진실입니다. 사과는 하루 아침에 꽃피고 열매를 맺지 않습니다. 씨는 뿌리자 마자 싹이 트고 곡식이 무르익는 것이 아닙니다. 땅을 경작하는 사람들은 성장에 관한 많은 것이 그들의 통제 밖에 있다는 사실을 견디어 내며 추수를 인내로 기다려야 합니다.

Such patience waiting is an act of faith and hope. All through the growing season, a farmer looks ahead to the promise of a "valuable crop." The farmer may plant and tend the seed, but it is "the land" that yields the crop.

그러한 인내의 기다림은 믿음과 소망의 행위입니다. 작물이 자라나는 시간 내내, 농부는 앞에 놓인 "값진 수확"의 약속을 바라봅니다. 농부는 심고 씨를 가꿀 수 있지만, "땅"이 작물을 자라나게 합니다.  

In the same way, followers of Jesus live in faith and hope that through all the circumstances of life, God promises to bring about a valuable harvest in our lives. Jesus has not forgotten his people. He has given his life for them; he will return to judge sin and destroy it forever. In the meantime, we wait patiently.

이와 같이, 예수님의 제자들은 인생의 모든 환경을 통하여, 하나님께서 우리 삶의 귀중한 추수를 주신다고 약속하심을 믿고 소망하며 살아갑니다. 예수님은 그의 백성들을 잊지 않으셨습니다. 그는 그들을 위해 자신의 생명을 주셨습니다. 그는 죄를 심판하고 그것을 영원히 없이 하시려고 다시 오실 것입니다. 그 때까지, 우리는 인내로 기다립니다.   

Do you presently face unfair pressure at work, betrayal from family members or friends, or injustice from society? Are you weighed down by your own sin or by temptations? Remember how God sustained his people in the past and on through many ages to the present. Trust that God will also send timely relief through Christ's compassion and mercy as you wait for the harvest of his "valuable crop." 

여러분이 현재 직장에서 불공정한 압력, 가족이나 친구로부터의 배신, 혹은 사회의 불의를 겪고 있습니까? 자신의 죄나 유혹에 눌리고 있습니까? 하나님께서 과거나 많은 세대를 통하여 오늘에 이르기까지 그의 백성들을 어찌 붙드셨는지 기억하십시오. 하나님은 또한 여러분이 그의 "고귀한 작물"의 추수를 기다릴 때, 그리스도의 긍휼과 자비를 통하여 시기 적절한 위안을 주심을 신뢰하십시오.

PRAYER (기도)

Patience God, give us patience and endurance as we wait for you. Help us to trust that you will send what we need to bring about something valuable in our lives, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

인내의 하나님, 주를 기다릴 때, 우리에게 인내와 견딜 힘을 주옵소서. 삶의 귀한 무언가를 우리가 달성해야 할 때, 주께서 그것을 보내 주심을 신뢰하게 도와 주옵소서. 예수니의 이름으로 기도합니다.
